Honoring Your Beloved Pet with the Power of a Personalized Memorial
If you’ve ever loved a pet, you get it: Losing a pet can be heart-wrenching. There’s just something about the unconditional love that a pet brings into a person’s life that’s so tangible but hard to explain. The simplicity of the bond between a person and a pet is what makes it so special: no complicated emotions to work through, just pure and unassuming devotion… and love.
Honoring the memory of your pet with an engraved photo pet memorial can make a big difference in helping you through your grief journey. Here’s why:
- Feeling like you did something to repay your beloved pet for all the love they gave you helps you feel grateful even in your sadness.
- Seeing your pet’s photo engraved into stone helps you know you won’t lose the memory.
- Having a special place in your yard, garden, or home where you can go to remember and reflect helps you process your grief.
- Seeing your pet’s name engraved in stone helps you remember they are always in your heart.
If you are considering this as a gift for a family member or friend, there’s the added benefit of being there for someone in pain, providing the perfect gift at the perfect time. It’s beyond a condolence... beyond sympathy... it’s the healing power of empathy in action.
Here are some ideas when ordering a memorial plaque for yourself or a loved one:
- Be sure to include the pet’s name and also include their nickname if they have one (For example: "Rosco aka Little Man"). Dates are optional.
- Think about what the pet meant to you and your family: Is there something quirky you’d like to memorialize? Was there a daily routine you will miss? (For example: "We will miss the pitter patter of your feet when you had the crazies around the house.")
- Finally, is there a short honoring statement you’d like to say? (For example: "Forever in our hearts.")
Here’s how to choose the best photo for your engraved pet memorial:
- Close-ups are better, but be sure no portions of the ear or head are cut off. (But we will do our best to correct any issues like this.)
- Lighting is important! If all the light is coming from the behind their face, there won’t be enough detail; and if there is bright sun glaring down, it could completely white-out portions of the photo and black-out other portions.
- Crispness and clarity: Sometimes a photo looks nice on a small phone screen, but if you view that same photo on a larger tablet or laptop, you can see that it’s not high quality. It could be a blurry image or it could be an image that was re-sized too small. Zoom in and look closely at the face and nose to see if the photo is crisp and clear.
- The happiness factor: Even if a photo has all the right characteristics, if your pet doesn’t seem happy in the photo or the photo makes you remember something difficult, then it’s not the right photo. You want the photo to help you remember the joy that your pet brought to you. This factor takes precedence over every other photo rule, so even if we receive a photo that isn’t the highest quality, we will presume it is your very best photo of your pet and we’ll make it look the very best it can in the engraving.
I hope this information helps you as you grieve the loss of your pet or as you consider helping out a friend who is grieving. We regularly receive testimonials from customers who shed tears of joy for the comfort they have received from looking at their granite memorial, knowing that they can gaze at their beloved pet’s photo engraved in stone for years to come. It’s an honor to be a part of this healing process.
